CHILDREN OF CARMEL

The Children of Carmel is the youth group of the Carmelite Sisters of Our Lady, following Jesus in full allegiance through the Carmelite Way of Life in the 21st century.

ASPIRANCY

Aspirancy is the stage where young women, after completing at least Senior High School, discern a vocation in Religious Life.  It is a process of getting to know each other: the community gets to know her, and she gets to know them.

The Aspirancy program is divided into two (2) phases:

  • Phase I involves a young woman who is pursuing professional training or work experience while in close contact with the Congregation.
  • Phase II entails a young woman living with the Sisters in to confirm her vocation to Religious Life and receiving support in her discernment through a specifically designed program for them.

POSTULANCY

The postulancy stage aims to initiate the candidates into the life in Carmel and to verify their aptitudes and motivations for entering Religious Life to prepare them for the novitiate.  This stage will not be less than six (6) months and not more than two (2) years, allowing the postulant to decide and respond to God’s call with maturity, responsibility, and freedom.
